The mission of the Honorary Consulate General Office is to promote cultural, economical, educational development between the Republic of Latvia and the Republic of Indonesia. The Honorary Consulate General Office aims to protect the interests and rights of the Latvian citizens and subjects in Indonesia, and as well to increase the awareness about Latvia, its culture, economy and education to Indonesian general public for further strengthening the relationship between Indonesians and Latvians. The office of Honorary Consulate General of the Republic of Latvia in Jakarta was established in December 2007 with the appointment of Ayub Junus, initially as Honorary Consul and subsequently as Honorary Consul-General in 2018.
- Foreign nationals whose Visitor’s Permits (Index B211, B212, Visa-free, and Visa on Arrival) are to be expired or are expired, which either can be extended or cannot be extended, will be granted an Emergency Stay Permit without any application process at immigration offices. An Emergency Stay Permit is automatic.
- Foreign nationals whose Temporary or Permanent Stay Permits (KITAS or KITAP holders) are to be expired or are expired, which either can be extended or cannot be extended, will be granted an Emergency Stay Permit without any application process at immigration offices. An Emergency Stay Permit is automatic.
- An Emergency Stay Permit is free.

In respect of the declared state of emergency over COVID-19, the Latvian government has decided to close all its international air, road, sea and railway borders starting from 17 March.
Latvian nationals and foreigners permanently residing in Latvia will be allowed to return to the country and foreigners will be allowed to leave the country.
Latvian nationals are required to register with the Consular Register at https://www.latvija.lv/lv/Epakalpojumi/EP139/Apraksts to inform the Ministry regarding their location, as well as, if there are no available return flights, to fill out the form http://www.airbaltic.com/repatriation to register for potential airBaltic return flights. All this information will be collected and possible flights planned accordingly.
